Bright paper lanterns adorn the traditional houses lining the streets of Edo, Japan. Crowds of people walk by with hope and confidence in their eyes; a few samurai are spotted here and there.
Tokidoki Rikugo, a modern high school student failing History class, is visiting the virtual world of the last few years in the Tokugawa Period through the use of special goggles provided at a high-tech history museum. What was intended to be research for an assignment turns into a .hack-esque adventure as a “Nue” attacks Toki and the broken goggles have imprisoned him in the virtual world with no escape.
